This card and drivers work with Win98 and XP. Unzip to a new folder. The manual states that you install the card, but do not connect any drives yet. Start Windows and the card will be found. The 'wizard' appears. Go through the motions of installation, having shown Windows where to find the drivers. On completing, you are prompted to reboot. Select NO, then shutdown. NOW you can connect the devices you want. Start up, and go to 'Device Managers' and click on 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers' You should see CMD control statements. NOTE This card is intended to use 80pin ribbons. I think 40pin ribbons will work. NOTE2 If you want to run a DVD drive, I've found that you can only use a 40pin ribbon. Otherwise the drive will not be recognized. Best of British, Alan
